Returning
home after a drive from India Gate on Saturday night Mohammad Salman a 19-year-old man was shot dead, allegedly by his
friend, inside the car the two, along with a friend, were travelling in on the
Ranjit Singh Flyover near Connaught Place on Saturday night, the police said.
While returning, Sohail seated next to Salman, who was driving the car, pulled out a country-made pistol. He aimed it at Salman while trying to make the video but the pistol went off shooting him on his left cheek, police said.
The
shooting ultimately resulted in the death of Salman and his other two friends
were arrested for the incident.
The victim, Mohammad Salman, lived with his family in north-east Delhi’s New Jafrabad. His father owns a jeans-manufacturing unit and Salman sometimes used to assist him. Suhail and Aamir lived in the same neighbourhood.
According to the police the three had left for India gate on Saturday
night in a white Hyundai creta when the incident happened
near Ranjit Singh Flyover, adjacent to Barakhamba Road in central Delhi, police
said.
After the incident, the two friends panicked and drove to Sohail’s relatives’ home in Daryaganj, where he changed his blood-stained clothes. Then, along with the relative, they took Salman to nearby LNJP Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said. They are trying to ascertain where Suhail got the pistol from.
They left the hospital soon after admitting Salman.
Around 11.15 pm, the hospital authorities informed police, officials said.
Police said they are investigating whether the bullet was fired accidentally or with intent to kill.
