Delhi and its neighbouring areas experienced light rain this morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the national capital will have a generally cloudy sky throughout the day with light rain/drizzle.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 25 and 13 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of Delhi ( Alipur, Burari, Rohini, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Pitampura, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar), NCR (Loni Dehat, Bahadurgarh),” the IMD wrote in its bulletin.

“Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi, NCR (Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula) during the next 2 hours,” it added.

The weather department had earlier predicted that Delhi is likely to get warmer starting from Saturday with temperatures rising from a mild 24.6 degrees Celsius to a warmer 30 degrees Celsius by March 1. Similarly, the forecast suggested that the nights are likely to get slightly less cold, going from a comfy 8.7 degree Celsius to 12.5 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, an active Western Disturbance (WD) is expected to impact the Western Himalayas and likely to cause rain and snow in the region from February 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. Adjoining plains will be affected from March 1 to 3.

Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is also very likely over the Western Himalayan Region on March 1 and 2, the IMD said. Parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are also likely to see thunderstorms and hail, it added.
