Amritpal Singh on a cart with bike in new photo; wife, mother questioned

As the Punjab Police on Wednesday spotted the motorbike in which Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh was ferried out of the gurdwara — his officially last known location– a new photo has surfaced showing him on a three-wheeler cart along with the bike. In the purported photo, Amritpal Singh is with one of his associates apart from the driver of the motorised cart. It is not clear whether the bike ran out of fuel or experienced some technical glitch. Amritpal came to the gurudwara with four men, but in the photo, only two can be seen — apart from the driver.

The manhunt to nab the Khalistan sympathiser raised several questions as Amritpal Singh, according to the version of the Punjab Police, managed to remain elusive.

Amitpal Singh’s mother, wife questioned

The police on Wednesday reached Jallupur Khera, Amritpal Singh’s native village in Amritsar where they questioned Amritpal Singh’s family members including his mother Balwinder Kaur and wife Kirendeep Kaur. Amritpal Singh got married to NRI Kirandeep Kaur in February at a modest gathering. Kirendeep used to stay in the UK but Amritpal said his wife would stay with him in Punjab after the wedding. Reports said Kirandeep’s name has come up in securing foreign funds for Waris Punjab De.

Two cars, bike, then cart – the trail of Amritpal Singh

During Saturday’s chase, Amritpal Singh changed vehicles to divert the police — first, he was in his Mercedes and then switched to a Brezza SUV. From the gurudwara, where he changed his clothes, he was on a motorbike, which later was seen on a motorised three-wheeler cart. In the purported photos in which Amritpal Singh can be seen fleeing, he somewhat looks different with goggles and a pink turban.
