Taking to X, the Congress leader also warned the Prime Minister that if the repealed farm laws are revived again, the entire INDIA alliance will stand against it.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded a clarification from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s recent proposal to bring back the repealed farm laws.
Taking to X, the Congress leader also warned the Prime Minister that if the repealed farm laws are revived again, the entire INDIA alliance will stand against it.
“BJP keep testing ideas. They tell someone to present an idea to the public and then observe the reaction. This is exactly what happened when one of their MPs talked about reviving the farmer laws, which were black laws. Modi Ji, please clarify whether you are against this or if you are up to mischief again,” Gandhi said.
“Will those farmer laws be revived or not? If they are, I guarantee that the entire INDIA alliance will stand against you. 700 people were martyred; we need to remember and respect them. Modi Ji did not allow even two minutes of silence for them. We will never forget this. Thank you,” he added.
In his post, the Gandhi scion also wondered who is deciding government policies.
“Who is deciding the government’s policy? A BJP MP or Prime Minister Modi? Even after the martyrdom of more than 700 farmers, especially the farmers of Haryana and Punjab, the BJP people are not satisfied,” he wrote.
“INDIA will not allow any conspiracy of BJP against our farmers to succeed – If any step is taken to harm the farmers, Modi ji will have to apologise again,” Rahul Gandhi said.
The actor-turned politician and BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi stirred another controversy after she suggested that the three farm reform laws, which were scrapped following farmers’ protests, should be brought back.
“I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. The farmers should themselves demand it. Farmers are a pillar of strength in the nation’s development. I want to appeal to them to demand the laws back for their own good,” Kangana Ranaut had said.
In a video message, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stated that the comments are a “personal statement” of Ranaut and don’t represent the party’s stand on the farm bills.
Earlier in the day, event Kangana Ranaut offered a public apology, and stated, “My remark has disappointed several people”.
“I need to remind myself that I am no longer just an actor, I am a politician too, and my opinions should not be personal, but a reflection of the party,” she said in a video message on X.
As expected, the remarks triggered a political uproar, forcing the BJP to distance itself from it and issue clarification.
