Passengers can now book tickets across all Delhi Metro lines with Paytm

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Thursday introduced QR code-based ticketing through the Paytm Mobile App. The feature will be available on the app starting today.

The inauguration of the feature took place at the city’s Metro Bhawan. DMRC’s Managing Director (MD) Dr Vikas Kumar and Paytm’s Chief Business Officer Abhay Sharma were in attendance.

How can passengers access mobile QR tickets via Paytm?

Passengers can now access mobile QR tickets via the Paytm app’s ‘Metro’ section by simply specifying their entry and destination stations on the day of travel. At the entry and exit stations, travellers need only hold their smartphone in front of the QR code scanner of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to proceed on their journey.

This facility was previously available exclusively on the Airport Express Line.

“Introduction of this QR-based ticketing for all corridors of Delhi Metro through Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital,” said DMRS’s MD Dr Kumar.

In a statement, Paytm’s Chief Business Officer highlighted the company’s dedication to offering convenience and streamlined digital ticketing to metro passengers, ultimately saving them time and eliminating the need to queue for tickets.

In the recent past, DMRC has introduced numerous initiatives, such as QR ticketing via the Delhi Metro Mobile App and Ticket Vending Machines, all accommodating digital payment methods.

Last week the metro body also expanded its WhatsApp based ticketing system to all lines of the metro, including the Rapid Metro Line in Gurugram.
