Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday flagged off second Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train.

The train is saffron in colour and has multiple new features, a statement issued by the Northern Railway (NR) said.

PM Modi also launched the Unified Tourist Pass System under the Smart City Mission.

While addressing a rally in Varanasi, PM Modi spoke in Bhojpuri to connect with the gathering.

“What transformation comes by modern connectivity and beautification, we are seeing it in Kashi. The pride of Kashi as an important centre of faith and spirituality is increasing day by day. Today, along with Kashi, the entire country is committed for a developed India,” PM Modi said.

According to Northern Railway, the train has superior passenger amenities such as onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, GPS-based passenger information system, plush interiors, bio-vacuum toilets with touch-free conveniences, diffused LED lighting, charging points beneath every seat, individual touch-based reading lights and concealed roller blinds.

“It has better heat ventilation and air-conditioning system with UV lamp for germ-free supply of air. The intelligent air-conditioning system adjusts the cooling according to the climate conditions/occupancy,” the Northern Railway said.
